The Terra d’Oro 2017 Rosé is a complex, yet refreshing, wine that radiates a gorgeous light copper hue in the glass. Intense aromas of grapefruit, mandarin orange, watermelon, strawberry and cantaloupe are framed by hints of subtle orange blossom, wet stone and baking spice undertones. The palate is bursting with generous citrus character and strawberry, while minerality drives the core of this wine leading to a clean, crisp finish.
The 2017 vintage in Amador County brought ideal conditions for growing flavorful Grenache and Nebbiolo, the centerpiece of this exquisite Rosé. Welcomed winter rains helped to alleviate drought conditions across the state. A long, even growing season followed, allowing the grapes to mature beautifully and create rich, ripe characteristics. The grapes were harvested on the early edge of ripeness to preserve the balance of fruit, savory, acid and mineral notes.
The Grenache and Nebbiolo grape clusters were hand-picked early in the morning, then gently pressed.
Minimal skin contact allowed a delicate pink color to be extracted before the juice was fermented in 100% stainless steel. The result is a crisp, medium-bodied and off-dry wine with deep flavor and versatility, perfect for a springtime afternoon.
