The 2014 Terra d’Oro GSM blend is warm and inviting with a nose full of earthy, spicy richness and a hint of red fruit. Sophisticated flavors of spicy strawberry, smoked meats, and earthy truffle tones burst throughout the palate and lead to a long, elegant finish. Being our first take on this style, we are pleased with presenting a modern twist on a classic wine.
The Grenache, Syrah and Mourvédre fruit for this wine was sourced from three Amador County vineyards. The vines are planted on bilateral cordon trellising and were harvested at night, 66% by hand. The sandy loam soil that these vines are planted on are suitable for producing this classic, elegant Côtes du Rhône blend.
Once these grapes arrived to the winery in the cool, early morning hours, they were gently crushed and destemmed, before fermentation in half ton bins. This blend has seen 30 months of aging in 25% new French oak.
Food Pairing Notes
