The Terra d’Oro 2015 Donna Avida Red Blend hails from Amador County, the heart of the Sierra Foothills. “Donna Avida” translates to “Gold Digger” in Italian, a nod to our rich heritage in California’s historic Gold Country. Winemaker, Emily Haines sought out the best lots that would provide a layered and complex expression of this wine-growing region. The result is a stunning blend of Barbera, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Viognier and a touch of Grenache and Teroldego.
The grapes for this wine are handpicked in small bins and fermented in stainless steel tanks. After gentle pressing, the wine is aged for several months in 25% new French, Hungarian and American oak barrels, which imparts toasty characteristics in this wine.
