Terra d'Oro Zinfandel 2015
The 2015 Terra d’Oro Amador County Zinfandel displays the classic characteristics unique to this region. Enticing aromas of clove, allspice, cinnamon and red currant lead to red raspberry fruit, ripe plum, and subtle spice notes on the palate. This opulent wine has a round mouthfeel with well-integrated tannins on the finish. Bold and intriguing, the 2015 Terra d’Oro Amador County Zinfandel is truly a taste of the region.
Hand-selected grapes from our prestigious Amador vineyards comprise the Terra d’Oro County Zinfandel, the winery’s flagship wine. Shallow topsoils, granite hardpan, hot summer days and cool summer nights make a remarkable home for the winemaker’s favorite varietal. Head-trained and spur-pruned, the Terra d’Oro vineyards receive optimal sunlight and deliver a controlled crop.
At Terra d’Oro, the Zinfandel grapes are carefully hand-picked and brought to the winery for processing. Cold-soaking for up to three days allows water to break down the cell walls of the grape solids, extracting flavors, color and aromas.
After gentle tank pressing, the wine is aged in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak (25% new) for 14 months resulting in subtle caramel notes with indications of exotic spice.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair this wine with eggplant parmesan or grilled lamb skewers with a blackberry reduction.

Discovered at a restaurant in Hawaii and the whole table loved this wine. We went back 3 times with the wine a good motivator. Just very good eating with food. An especially good (for a Zin) after taste with food. We had eggplant roles with it but it went well with many different main courses at our table

I have no idea how I got this bottle - a gift perhaps? Well, I rarely drink red wine other than the occasional Malbec or Montepulciano (once or twice). But, when I had this Zin, WOW - I loved it! I know very little about red wines, but THIS one, wow. I *will* get it again. Not too heavy, not too earthy, and very smooth. I was reading up on Zins and saw that the tannins can be moderate to high, but this one didn't strike me as having much, which works for me.

I bought this wine on March 17, 2018, at the OakBrook, IL Costco store for about $12. A very good wine for the price. Will go back for more!
